The is no more embittered rivalry than the one between Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, the Emperor’s most terrifying enforcer and apprentice. Their dules have shaped the very course of history. Clashing with unmatched intensity, each knows every strength and weakness of the other. Darth Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan’s impetuous padawan and a figure prophesied to bring balance to the Force. His terrible disfigurement was a direct result of a duel between the two, culminating in Anakin suffering horrific injuries on the shore of a lava river on Mustafar.

Vader’s hatred of Obi-Wan is only exceeded by that Jedi’s grief and regret at the loss of a friend. Committed to rectifying his own mistakes, Obi-Wan has accepted that his friend Anakin is truly dead, viewing Darth Vader as both Anakin’s murderer and the killer of many other promising young Jedi.
